What did I learn so far at SushiVid as an Intern

Posted on October 1, 2025
A Little Bit of Prologue
I still vividly remember the day I was scrolling through internship vacancies and stumbled upon a posting from SushiVid. They were looking for a Social Media Marketing and E-commerce intern. Since I was specifically searching for a role in social media marketing, I thought, “Perfect fit!” and immediately applied on Hiredly.
Not long after, I received a notification on my phone — Ms. Yuhwen Foong, CEO of SushiVid, had reached out to ask a few details about my application and scheduled an interview. When the day came, I was expecting something serious, formal, and intimidating. To my surprise, it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable interviews I’ve ever had. It felt more like a casual chat than an interrogation — we even laughed and shared random stories that had nothing to do with the job.
A few days later, I was accepted! Thrilled would be an understatement — SushiVid was not only my first interview, but I was also the first in my major to secure an internship. I happily accepted the offer. One of the biggest reasons? Because SushiVid is an agency. In agencies, you get to see everything — how campaigns are run, how clients are acquired, where revenue comes from, and how resources are managed. For someone like me who is still learning, that kind of exposure felt invaluable..

Let’s Dive In
It’s been nine weeks since my first day at SushiVid, and I’ve learned so much. But before I share my key takeaways, let me walk you through what I’ve actually been doing.
SushiVid is generally divided into four key divisions: Marketing, Sales, Fulfilment, and IT. Over the past nine weeks, I’ve been involved mainly in Sales and Marketing, with occasional tasks from Fulfilment too.
In Fulfilment, my tasks included collecting KOL (Key Opinion Leader) post screenshots and links, compiling them into reports, and preparing slides for clients. Sometimes, I even helped with product packaging — getting items from clients ready to be shipped out to KOLs for campaigns.
My internship actually began in the Sales division, where I spent my first six weeks. My primary role? KOL Search — finding suitable influencers for campaigns. I had the chance to work on searches for some really exciting brands, including TikTok Flash Sales, Yeo’s, Resorts World Genting, Ramsport, ZUS Coffee, Laurier, Otoki Jin Ramen, Merchantrade, and many more.
Once a KOL confirmed availability, I uploaded their details — rates, handles, notes — into the SushiVid platform. Every day, I also reported my progress to the Head of Operations, ensuring everything was tracked properly. Eventually, these lists would be compiled into a final spreadsheet for the client to review and approve.
After six weeks, I transitioned into the Marketing division, where I’ve now been for about three weeks. My tasks here have been diverse and exciting, including:
Content Creation – from videos and graphics to long-form content like this blog post.Design – creating presentation slide decks. On-Site Events – the highlight of my time here!
One of the most memorable campaigns was in Genting Highlands, where I accompanied and guided KOLs while they created their content. It was my very first time engaging directly with KOLs in person, and it was a total blast.
Working across these different divisions has been eye-opening. I’ve gotten a full view of the campaign lifecycle — from pitching (Sales), to execution (Fulfillment), to Marketing. It’s given me a genuine 360 - degree perspective on how an agency runs.

The Ending That’s Not Really an Ending
As my internship slowly comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the moments that stand out. Strangely enough, it’s not just the big campaigns or reports — it’s the small, everyday memories that define SushiVid’s culture.
My favorite part? Definitely the post-lunch storytelling sessions in the pantry, especially when Sya starts her long, animated stories that keep everyone laughing. These spontaneous, human moments make the workday feel even more rewarding.
Of course, no experience is perfect. If I had to pick a “least favorite” part, it would be waiting for the restroom when everyone seems to have the same idea. (“Faster, broo!”) But even that is softened by little joys — like cuddling Bing-Bing, our adorable office pet, right before heading back to work.

My journey here isn’t fully over yet, but I know one thing: I want to spend the rest of my time at SushiVid cherishing these small details, appreciating the team, and making every last day count.

Oh, and did I mention our weekly team activities? One week it’s trivia, another week it’s board games — and yes, there was even that time we all grabbed our rackets and played pickleball together.
