1. Tell us a bit about your background. What inspired you and what is the idea behind your channel?
I've always wanted to be a YouTuber because I watched American YouTubers growing up, but to live up to Asian parents' standards, I went to law school and ended up being a lawyer instead. Fast forward to the Covid-19 pandemic that happened 2 years ago, that was the time when I resumed my video creation interests and started creating videos again on my YouTube. But I did not know what kind of content I wanted to focus on and what my niche content was, so I tried posting different kinds of content until one of them caught the audience's attention, which was TikTok tutorials on my YouTube. It gained views easily as it provides value to the audience but gradually it's not what the type of content that I wanted to focus on personally and YouTube videos take a longer time to produce so I started exploring on TikTok. I started TikTok as an experiment for my YouTube content, and also doing very cringy dances or following any type of trends on TikTok that millions of people are doing. By 2021 February, I started to realise that I need to come up with something that differentiates me from other creators so I started doing voiceovers for my videos and content-wise, it was all about what I love - exploring new places and food. So that's how I started my food and travel content on TikTok.
2. What do you aim to provide to your followers? What kinds of ideas do you want to convey?
I aim to encourage the audience to explore something new every day, it doesn't have to be something costly, but even if it's ordering something different from your usual menu. It just adds more flavour to dull human life.
3. How many hours a week do you spend working as an Influencer and all that goes with it?
Honestly, since I post one video a day on my TikTok, it's a 24/7 kind of job thinking about what kind of content to create. Even when I'm going on a holiday, I can't resist the urge to film content out of my holidays. So it's very important to have a balance between the chaos and knowing when to 'switch-off' as a creator.
4. On average, how long does it take for you to put out a video?
I usually take 1-2 weeks to buffer from the day I shoot to the posting date unless the content is something trending that I have to post 1-2 days after shooting. Editing 1 min TikTok video takes around 1 hour including 30 mins of trimming, and 30 mins of voiceover + subtitles.
5. What are some of your favourite campaigns you’ve worked on?
My favourite campaigns are the ones that approve my draft right away without any amendments. And travel-related campaigns are my favourite ones too.
6. Could you please give a short testimonial on SushiVid? What's your experience like with us?
SushiVid is one of the agencies that I like working with! They're very organised and structured and most importantly they're very responsive towards any enquiries.
